Vertical transport as a merchandising instrument.
In retail the lift is part of the route a customer takes past the shopfronts. Panoramic cars, escalator arrangements and moving walks are laid out with the leasing plan so that circulation exposes trade rather than bypassing it.
Public-duty equipment is specified for continuous running: heavy-duty step chains, vandal-resistant fittings and remote monitoring that raises a service call before a unit stops.
